Cry, Hiroshima Cry

Since time immemorial, man has fought
War after war, so man could not
Live in peace the world over
Sharing sun and rain together

    *Cry, Hiroshima, cry
If only the world would try,
The best way of an enemy rid
Is to befriend him a little bit.

On a fateful day in 'forty-five
A-bomb was dropped that took many lives
Causing destruction wide and deep
Even now do people weep.

    *Refrain

Admidst the war, a city thrived
People living out a peaceful life
One moment was clear, the next was smoke
Over the city an A-bomb did explode.

    *Refrain

The world rejoiced, a nation grieved
As news of Hiroshima was received.
A weapon now was at hand
That could totally destroy a land.

    *Refrain

In just a few more days,
Another city was laid to waste.
The A-bomb too did it taste
The unlucky city of Nagasaki.

    ~Cry, Nagasaki, cry
If only the world would try
The best way of an enemy rid
Is to befriend him a little bit.

Love God and your fellow men
This is the Bible's and Koran's stand
Buddha taught one not to kill
But rather to spread good will.

    *Refrain

From the ruins of war a city did spring
The scar of war healed not clean
For the havoc that we create
Hiroshima do not us hate.

    *Refrain
