Mary loves Larry And Larry loves Mary. Both wanted to marry Though they had no money. Mary had a Baby Who had a belly. It ate only strawberries And drank only coffee. What with no money And such a funny Baby. Mary was sulky And Larry grew angry. One day in the year 1980. They carried the funny Baby. Up to the 30th storey And jumped down happily. The Powers That Be

The Powers That Be A Tribute to Mr Wong Siew Hoong 23rd Headmaster of Raffles Institution 'Twas in ninety-eight, A move The Powers doth made, That brought Mr Wong Siew Hoong To RI - none too soon. The Powers That Be dictate, The courses that RI would take. Back to his Alma Mater did he come, To serve his school with all his charm. The premier school in Singapore, Where leader, pioneers and thinkers grow tall. The Powers That Be doth sow, Seeds in a fertile field to grow. The work was hard, the challenge great. A lesser man would quickly fade. Our Headmaster shone throughout the gloom. Problems were nipped before they bloomed. The Powers That Be were satisfied, As school and Man grew side by side. He led the school with all his might. He led Raffles to greater heights. Year after year did RI grow; Award after award - the endless flow. The Powers That Be did smile, Another good man had grown a mile. His five years were up, He begged to stay. To lead RP in its fir...

The Star of Melville

At birth you were a precious child, We all loved you (Mom, Dad, Granma, Grandpa.) A lovely girl you soon became, Tall, lanky, on your way to fame. Li Li, you're the star In time, in space, from near, from far, We see your light, We see the child. Study hard, your mother said, and study hard you did. Your results did proclaim, Li lI, you really have the brains. Li Li, you;re the star In time, in space, from near, from far, We see your light, We see your grades. The family rejoiced, And was about to celebrate. But things turned round, By a cruel twist of fate. Li Li, you're the star In time, in space, from near from far, We see your light, We see your fate. Shylock's cry for a pound of flesh, He finally did receive. With ribs and all, he got it all, How deep the family grieved Li Li, you're the star In time, in space, from near from far, We see your light, We see your grief. Again Shylock came, and yet again, Again, you went through all the pa...

Is There God?

For a long time I have thought, Of what God is and God is not. Or even if there was a god, Oh, what great food for thought! Taoism talks of cosmic powers That one can draw at critical hours, Hinduism has many gods Just like what the Greeks have got. Buddha taught that life is suffering Caused by man's greed and longing. Zen Buddhism claims man has Buddha nature Revealed at enlightenment throught meditation. Islam preaches one God - Allah, With his prophet Mohammed. The Bible teaches that God sent His Only Begotten Son to Man. Yes, there are God and gods and more But which one is the true God of all? The truth is that all religions teach Man to be morally rich! Science has always taken a factual stand Searching for laws that always can Be applied for friend or foe Bringing joy and also woe. Undeterred I read more books Hoping that I might reach the roots. The more I read, the more I found That I was going round and round. Finally I had to admit That this job is just too bi...

Cry, Hiroshima Cry

Since time immemorial, man has fought War after war, so man could not Live in peace the world over Sharing sun and rain together *Cry, Hiroshima, cry If only the world would try, The best way of an enemy rid Is to befriend him a little bit. On a fateful day in 'forty-five A-bomb was dropped that took many lives Causing destruction wide and deep Even now do people weep. *Refrain Admidst the war, a city thrived People living out a peaceful life One moment was clear, the next was smoke Over the city an A-bomb did explode. *Refrain The world rejoiced, a nation grieved As news of Hiroshima was received. A weapon now was at hand That could totally destroy a land. *Refrain In just a few more days, Another city was laid to waste. The A-bomb too did it taste The unlucky city of Nagasaki. ~Cry, Nagasaki, cry If only the world would try The best way of an enemy rid Is to befriend him a little bit. Love God and your fellow men This is...

Contra

Read this somewhere a long time ago. One bright morning, in the middle of the night. Two dead boys got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other. Drew their swords and shot each other. A deaf policeman heard the noise, And came and killed the two dead boys.
